Dear Parents,

Are you eager to help your child develop his/her thinking skills? Have you wondered what kinds of questions can help stimulate and stretch your child's mind?

Try the following question:

There are 10 stones on the table. Asterix and Obelix take turns to remove stones from the table. Every turn, a person will take some stones from the table. The number of stones he takes must be either 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. Whoever takes the last stone loses. Asterix starts the game. How many stones should he take in the first turn, so that he will definitely win?

A) 1   B) 2   C) 3   D) 4   E) 5

In competitions maths, there is a whole wealth of valuable tasks and questions that can help your child advance his/her thinking skills to a higher level.

For a start, click here to register your child for our general maths proficiency testing to help him/her discover his/her inclination in Maths.

With the input from the report provided after the testing, you can make a more informed choice if it is suitable to put him/her through a thorough course of maths competition training.
